How do I uninstall Carbonite?

To uninstall Carbonite:

1) Open your Start Menu
2) Click on Programs (called 'All Programs' in Windows Vista)
3) Click on the Carbonite Online Backup menu item
4) Click on 'Uninstall Carbonite'

You can also uninstall Carbonite through your Control Panel:

Windows XP:
Go to 'My Computer' and click on 'Control Panel', (or select 'Control Panel' from your Windows Start menu.)

Select 'Add or Remove Programs'. Scroll down the list until you see Carbonite Backup, select it and click on Remove.

Windows Vista:
Select 'Control Panel' from the Windows Start menu. Click 'Uninstall a Program'. Scroll down the list until you see Carbonite Backup, right-click on it and select 'Uninstall'.

How do I upgrade my trial to a paid subscription?

The simplest way to upgrade your trial is to open the Carbonite InfoCenter (double-click the lock icon in your system tray) and click the 'Buy Now' button.

You can also purchase a subscription by visiting Carbonite's homepage at www.carbonite.com and clicking on the 'Buy' tab at the top of the page.

How do I reinstall Carbonite without restoring lost files?

To reinstall Carbonite:

1) Log into your Carbonite account.

2) Click on the 'My Protected Computers' tab.

3) Click the 'Reinstall' button -- if you have more than one computer on your Carbonite account, you'll be asked to choose which computer's account you want to reinstall. (Help me find my computer name)

4) Follow the instructions to download and reinstall Carbonite.

How can I tell if Carbonite is installed on my computer?

Look for the Carbonite lock icon in your system tray (at the bottom right-hand corner of your screen). The lock icon indicates that Carbonite is installed and running on your computer. If you don't see the lock icon, it may be hidden. Click the arrow (<) to display hidden system tray icons.

If you still don't see the lock icon, click on the Windows Start menu and select Programs > Carbonite > Carbonite InfoCenter to start Carbonite.

If there is no Carbonite entry in your Programs menu, Carbonite is not installed on your computer.
Please try to reinstall Carbonite.
