Ask a Carbonista: How Do I Adjust My Mobile Wi-Fi Settings?

by Lynnette Nolan | Oct 11, 2012

Last month, our new mobile app debuted for Android and iOS smartphone users. The consensus so far is that the app is a fantastic way to back up the photos and videos stored on your mobile devices (and nowadays, that’s likely quite a few)!

But protecting your pics isn’t the only way we’re saving your data. This tip will help mobile users make the most of their backup – without sacrificing their data plan!

Camera, personal assistant, mailbox… smartphone functionality keeps increasing, but so do the prices of mobile data plans!  With this in mind, we designed our new app to fit the needs and challenges of today’s mobile user. One of the ways we did this was to set the default to back up over Wi-Fi – allowing users to conserve their data usage and back up their mobile photos and videos without incurring big data use fees from their mobile plan provider.

For those lucky enough to have unlimited data plans, or for the mobile user who just prefers to back up without Wi-Fi restrictions, the default can be changed simply by adjusting the setting to back up over cellular connections.
