Automatic Backup

Take backup off your to-do list. Carbonite backs up your entire business automatically, so you don’t have to.

Automatic & Continual Backup

Once installed, Carbonite backs up each computer, external hard drive and NAS device (plus, Windows Server for BusinessPremier customers) – automatically, in the background. And, it keeps backing up, continually, whenever the computer is connected to the Internet, allowing you (and your employees) to stay focused on your business.

You’ll be able to tell that Carbonite is working, because it puts colored dots next to the file names on your computers, letting you see at a glance which files are backed up, and which are not. On a Mac, the dots can be found inside the Carbonite Preference Pane.

PC MAC IT MEANS...
file is backed up
file is waiting to be backed up
file is not selected for backed up
some files within the folder are not being backed up

Carbonite Business automatically backs up the following types of files stored in your Users folders:

  • Photos
  • Documents
  • Video
  • Settings
  • Music
  • Spreadsheets
  • Point-of-sale (POS) files
  • Financial/Accounting files (.QBB, .PTB)
  • Customer relationship management files

'Backup Gap' Prevention

Suppose you currently back up every day at midnight: If a hard drive crashes at 11 p.m., you’ve lost hours of new files and file changes. If you back up once a week, you could lose several days’ worth of data. It costs time and money to recreate this data – if you can even recreate it at all.

Carbonite prevents this problem – because it backs up your files continually, whenever you're connected to the Internet. So if you lose a backed up file or your hard disk is lost or destroyed, Carbonite can restore your most recently saved changes.

Backup that fits your schedule

Prefer to decide for yourself when Carbonite backs up your files? No problem. With the scheduling feature, each individual user can set a customized backup schedule for his/her computer. That means that you can tell Carbonite what days and times to begin and end your backup – or what times NOT to run your backup. (For instance, if you’d prefer Carbonite to back up after you’ve left the office for the day, you can tell Carbonite not to back up between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.) This feature is available for Windows users only.
