Automatic Backup

Carbonite backs up your irreplaceable files automatically – so you don’t have to.

Set it

When you’re ready to install, the Carbonite software will walk you through a step-by-step process that’s so simple, you won’t even need to restart your computer. Just select automatic setup during installation and Carbonite will take care of the rest.

Forget it

Once you install Carbonite, you'll never have to remember to back up again. The automatic backup runs continually in the background, backing up new and changed files whenever your computer is connected to the Internet. Carbonite is designed to go to sleep when you’re using your computer so that it doesn’t slow you down. After your initial backup, you shouldn’t notice any impact on the performance of your computer or internet speed.

Relax

Carbonite puts colored dots next to file names on your computer, letting you see at a glance which files are backed up, and which are not. On a Mac, the dots can be found inside the Carbonite Preference Pane.

PC MAC IT MEANS...
file is backed up
file is waiting to be backed up
file is not selected for backed up
some files within the folder are not being backed up

Backup that fits your schedule

Prefer to decide for yourself when Carbonite backs up your files? No problem. With the scheduling feature, you can set a customized backup schedule for your computer. That means that you can tell Carbonite what days and times to begin and end your backup – or what times NOT to run your backup. (For instance, if you use your computer during the day, you can tell Carbonite not to back up between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.)This feature is available for Windows users only.
