On June 6, 2018, it was reported that a set of active security vulnerabilities attacked the firmware of Supermicro servers. These vulnerabilities affect both older and newer models of Supermicro products, however, they can only be exploited by malware already running on the system.
These Supermicro vulnerabilities are unrelated and separate from "Spectre" and "Meltdown" discovered earlier this year.
CarboniteTM is actively working to mitigate vulnerabilities across all systems affected by the Supermicro issues. More to come on how this may affect customer appliances.
Carbonite is committed to ensuring the security of our infrastructure and to protecting the partner and customer data entrusted to us.
