Carbonite to Host Session on Ransomware at NewCo Boston: The ‘Uber-ization’ of the Bad Guy

We are excited to announce that Carbonite has been chosen as the host company for the 2017 NewCo Boston event for the second year in a row. The NewCo mission aims to connect businesses with its audience through stories and experiences. Hosted throughout North America, Europe and Latin America, NewCo sparks discussions around innovation, technology and policy by bringing together leading thinkers and doers at innovation festivals and executive events. Other local companies participating in this year’s event include Rapid7, Athena Health, General Assembly and many more.

As a data protection company, we’re all too familiar with the reality that information is everywhere, and the more data you have, the more vulnerable you become. Cybercriminals are developing more ransomware viruses to target businesses and hold their data hostage. We’ve seen this firsthand. We recently saved our 10,000th customer from ransomware. These attacks have become so successful that hackers were able to generate ~$1B in revenue during 2016.

During our session, Norman Guadagno, Chief Evangelist and SVP of Marketing at Carbonite, will explore ransomware’s impact on businesses and how these cyberattacks are evolving to become the “Uber-ization” of the bad guy.

Where: 2 Ave de Lafayette, Boston, MA 02111
Date: Thursday, April 6, 2017
Time: 12:30-1:30 PM ET

Join us in this session at Carbonite to better understand what ransomware is, the importance of proactively protecting your data, and most importantly, how to get your data back after an attack. Register here today!
