More reasons to back up your SaaS applications

Carbonite™ Cloud-to-Cloud Backup by OpenText™ now offers easy SharePoint and OneDrive backups, improved reporting and visibility enhancements for Microsoft 365, and audit-compliant Salesforce seeding. Let’s dive into the new features that make SaaS backup and recovery just what it should be—seamless, secure, and reliable.

Auto-detection and bulk activation

Two new enhancements simplify SharePoint and OneDrive backup activation:

Auto-detection: Carbonite Cloud-to-Cloud Backup now auto-detects your SharePoint and OneDrive URLs on backup activation. You no longer have to manually enter the URLs when creating a new backup task.

Bulk activation: We have extended the same convenient Microsoft Exchange bulk activation functionality to SharePoint and OneDrive backups. Save time and effort by bulk-activating your OneDrive and SharePoint backups by Microsoft groups and URLs respectively. Simply choose a Microsoft group, and all OneDrive sites in that group will be backed up. Similarly, use a SharePoint URL to zone in on the sites you want to back up.

Improved reporting and visibility enhancements

Microsoft 365 users gain more visibility with new functionalities that help optimize licenses and ensure all Exchange data is backed up.

We’ve always kept a copy of your ex-employees’ data. But with a quick glance, you can now see which accounts are using an active Microsoft 365 license, in a column on the Backup Task page. This capability shows you which active licenses you can release from previous employees to use for new hires.

In addition to status updates for Microsoft Exchange licenses, we’ve also added backup task activation alerts. To make sure you’re only paying for what you need, we do not automatically activate backup for all mailboxes. In response to customer requests, we’ve added explicit backup activation alerts, so you can ensure that all required mailboxes are backed up. Additionally, an alert on the Home page notifies you that no backups have been activated.

Data anonymization for sandbox seeding

In our last release, we added a one-click ability to populate your Salesforce sandboxes with anonymized data using our default template. We now provide you with full control over the data anonymization rules. Choose the fields you want to randomize, replace with fake data, and leave unchanged. With this capability, you can:

  • Automate sandbox seeding to test new features before developers implement them in production.
  • Speed up development and QA cycles with optimized and secure test data.
  • Ensure compliance with built-in support for customizable data anonymization.

This feature helps you further comply with local data regulations.
